ArtYard is an interdisciplinary alternative contemporary art center located in Frenchtown, New Jersey. Home to a robust exhibition space, theater, and residency program, ArtYard is dedicated to presenting transformative artwork, fostering unexpected collaborations, and incubating original new work.

Along with the team at ArtYard, we endeavored to refresh their digital presence in a way that more accurately reflected their open platform for creative expression. By taking a strategic approach to content consolidation, and with a deep understanding of their audience goals, we created a digital environment that could more easily foster these transformative collaborations.

Our inspiration came from a familiar component found within the walls of museums and galleries alike—the artwork placard. This inspiration led to a simple, but strong toolkit consisting of black and white for our color palette, a minimal but organic sans serif typeface, and an embracing of unaltered image presentation. The culmination of these components helped us create an environment that could communicate a wealth of information clearly and offer a solid, but not disruptive, backdrop to an infinite realm of possible artistic expression.
